Purchased in December of 1998.  Soon after we drove that car home, we realized that the LS1, much like the Turbo V-6, was an engine with lots of potential.  Although we vowed never to run NOS on the Buicks(BTW, we do now), we just couldn't resist the temptation with this car.  All I can say is WOW!!!AND NOW ITS EVEN MEANER!!!!

9/29/2001:  The Coan tranny arrived yesterday along with the Yank installation kit and 4000 stall 9 inch Yank Converter.  The tranny comes with a full manual valve body and transbrake and is equipped with a 3.00 first gear.   It will be taken to Peralez Racing for the installation of the JW Ultrabell.   The new Moser 12bolt equipped with a spool and 3.73's should arrive at Speed Center next week.  In the end, the car will meet all of the NHRA specs for a 10 second car and be a full weight, ungutted, street legal machine.   I have posted some new pics below of the new 15 x 10's and the 28 x 10 slicks.  Its getting fun again!!!!!!

7/9/2001:Not much has been going on lately.  The car was entered in a Quick Street class again with a 7.50 index.  We once again jetted the car down in order to not breakout.  We eventually go to the finals and got second place.  This is when all hell broke lose.  It seems that when Jay went up front to get his trophy and winnings, the first place crew was up there ready to bad mouth.  During a conversation with the track announcer, Jay made it clear that he had lost at the lights but wasn't going to let the other guy beat him to the line(even if it meant breaking out).  Well, that crew was offended and tossed out every insult and threat you can think of in both spanish and english.  After we left, they were tossed out ot the track.  Ever seen a sore winner???  Anyhow, we are moving forward with the build up.   Project 2004R is dead.  Project TH-400 is now alive and we are gathering those parts.  Along with that project, we must upgrade the rear end.  So the car will be down for awhile.  One thing we have done is we are going to some 15x10 inch wheels with a 28x10.5 inch MT drag slick.  Those 16's just don't have the sidewall to hold the car.

6/10/2001:Stroker Project Pics.Click hereto see pics of our stroker project being assembled. You can also see the damage that is caused to a stock motor when an injector gets stuck wide open. Can you say “KABOOM”???

5/17/2001:DYNO TIME!!!We took the car over to South Texas Dyno and Performance to see what the actual gains were from our build up.SEE DYNO SHEET BELOW.Listed as Dyno 2, it cranked out 425 hp and 468 lbs of torque.Dyno 3 run was a 150 N2O pass and it netted 573 hp and 629 lbs of torque. We also have a second stage 100 shot that we did not shoot as the transmission simply can’t take it.Thanks to Mark, Dave, and Chris over at STDP.It was a lot of fun and we will be back soon with the GN’s.

5/11/2001:Well tonight was the street shoot out.We entered in the Quick Street class which was heads-up with a 7.25 index.Obviously, it was time to jet the car down in order to not breakout. We went two rounds before losing. Its sort of tough having to try and brake at the perfect time.Anyhow, it seems that the trans is not handling the power under N2O.We are going to convert to a 2004R, go to a 28 inch tall slick, and upgrade the rear end.We should have the car back at the track in a couple of months.

5/5/2001:After sending the computer back to Superchips for some more modifications, we took it back out to the track last night. Our first pass was with a 150 shot out of the hole and 100 in third. This resulted in an 11.04 at 130.The tires got blown away at the line.We rejetted to a 100 shot out of the hole and a 150 after the 1-2 shift.Jay hit the limiter hard between the 2-3 shift. He once again had to let off in order to get the car to shift and then throttled it again. This run resulted in a best of 10.699 at 133.782 with a weak 60 ft of 1.652.Thoughts of going to a 2004R are swirling as this tranny seems to be overpowered.See the time slips below.CLICK THIS TEXT OR THE TIME SLIP BELOW TO SEE THE VIDEO!!!

4/6/2001:We finally got the car out to the track and there was little disappointment.First of all, the track conditions were great. We pulled1.50’s 60 foots all night long. The first pass was an motor pass which yielded an 11.91 at 116 mph. This is seven tenths more than our previous motor pass of 12.60 which leads us to believe that our calculations ofan increased 70 hp from the stoker and intake mods are close. The second pass was a NOS pass with 100 wet off the line and 75 in third gear. The result was that the car pegged the rev limiter in between second and third, he let off to allow the car to shift and then proceeded to run a 10.87 at 130.The last run was carbon copy of the second run. Thanks to Paul and Julio of International Race Track for that nice trophy in recognition of our accomplishment.I have to say it made it all that more special. With a little more work on this car, we may be able to crack the nines. We will be lookingat raising the rev limiter orconverting to a 200R4 tranny from a Grand National. This computer controlled tranny shifting sucks.

3/19/2001:Its ALIVE!!! After a freak hydraulic lock incident that ripped a rod and punched a hole in the stock block, a Lunati 382 Stoker kit has been put into place. All I can say is the 382 kit is great. A warning for the do it yourselfer: be prepared to buy a lot of special tools. We spent over $1,200 in LS1 specific tools to get this project finished.Yup, we put this motor together and installed it like all our other cars.It runs great now and we should have some new times up within the next week or so.Thanks to Gene, Mark and Carlos at Speed Center, Nick Agostino at ARE, Peralez Racing, MTI and Art Carr transmissions.

Our expectations: at least a high 10-second run.Our wish:NINES!!!
